Qualities such as generosity, respect and compassion have something in common: kindness is at the root of all these qualities.
Kindness does not have to be shown in an ostentatious way. Kind acts can be done with small simple actions. Most of the time little things in a consistent manner make a larger impact on others than big showy acts of kindness.
There are many situations when a person can act kindly towards others. Little acts such as smiling at others or helping another when she falls, holding a door open for the next person, giving the elderly, disabled or pregnant a seat on the bus or just a simple please and thank-you is too often ignored nowadays.
Kindness can be passed on with these kind acts. When one person is kind to another, that kindness can transfer to the next person and so on. Many people admire kindness because it is too often rare these days and because it is a quality we all need and want.
