The Sacred Hearts Academy band participated in the Waikiki Holiday Parade, a parade that has been a tradition since 1998, on Nov. 23.
The Waikiki Holiday parade hosts bands not only from Hawaii, but also from the mainland. It also includes service bands, entertainers, military units and local officials. The parade honors Pearl Harbor Survivors and recognizes the anniversary of the Dec. 7 attack.
The festive parade began at Fort DeRussy, traveled along Kalakaua Avenue and ended at Kapiolani Park. It began at 7 p.m. so that spectators could watch the parade by torchlight.
This year, three mainland bands marched alongside local bands to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
