Animal print has been resurrected from the ‘80s due in part to MTV’s “Jersey Shore” in which animal print was a key accessory.
Children, teenagers and women are now sporting animal prints on bags, clothing, accessories and even phone cases.
Animal print is often popular because of the diverse styles. Currently cheetah, tiger, giraffe and leopard are in fashion.
Junior Kauionalani Kekuawela said, “ I wear animal prints with almost every outfit I wear. I own animal printed shoes, belts and clothes.”
Shoes, belts, jewelry, headwear or trim with animal prints are all simple touches that make animal prints so wearable and accessible.
Public figures including first lady Michelle Obama, television celebrity Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and supermodel Kate Moss take part in this trend.
Freshman Nicole Roland said, “I love animal print because it is a look that can be worn in many ways. I honestly think that a simple touch such as a belt or a shoe with animal print will be perfect and make the outfit amazing. My favorite print is cheetah print.”
Animal prints can be found in all stores including Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Target, Walmart and even thrift stores.
Junior Nicole Corpuz said, “Every time you walk into a store there is animal print staring in your face. I have a top that is animal print that I love but I believe animal print is being overdone in the stores.”
Although animal prints are popular among many, there are others who do not find the same attraction.
Junior Ashley Barley said,” I never really dislike animal print but since it has become popular, I have begun to dislike it more and more. Many people do over the whole animal print design. They have bags, pencil bags, headbands and even blankets. I like the design to a certain extent but I am becoming less and less fond of the style.”
