On Oct. 8-9 students will be able to wear any type of athletic shoes, including colored shoelaces, for $2.00. There will be contests for the most colorful shoes, most creative shoelace patterns and most complex shoe lace patterns. The winner in each category will receive a $25.00 gift card.
On Oct. 9, students may participate in Dress Down Day, when jeans, capris, any Sacred Hearts Academy shirt, slippers, athletic shoes, sunglasses and hats will be allowed. The cost for this is $3.00.
On Tuesday, Oct. 16, a snack sale will be held with healthy snacks and baked goods.
On Oct. 31, students can participate in Costume for a Scholarship Cause. Students will be allowed to dress in a Halloween costume for $5.00, which goes towards providing scholarships for prospective students.
The school’s goal is to surpass last year’s total of $5,197 and raise about $8,000.
“Since we have more activities this year than last, we’re expecting to raise a lot more money, roughly about $3,000-$4,000 more. We hope to raise at least $1,500 on Dress Down Day itself,” said Toni Normand, Director of Special Programs.
The decision to split up the AUW fundraising between high school and lower school is an effort to raise more money.
The lower school will feature Coins for a Cause because “the lower school girls are happy to bring their piggy-banks to school and excited to share their coins. The upper school wanted to do something different,” said Normand.
