Education and leadership are closely linked because it is in school that one can develop skills and traits for becoming a strong leader. From grade school to college, collaboration with other students is essential. It allows one to learn how to communicate effectively. School is where we learn how to adapt to the realities of real world experiences in a sheltered environment. Student government positions are opportunities that allow students to gain experiences of leadership while discovering their own potential.
The work force always has a hierarchy that one must consider with the employer at the top. Being the boss does not always mean that one is a good leader. She must display good qualities for employees to follow.
As boss, one may have the authority to assign tasks and state the goals that must be achieved, yet the relationship between the boss and employees is crucial because both have to work together in order to complete a shared goal. In order to run a successful business or company, employees must work hard and be persistent. Bosses, on the other hand, must be accessible, flexible and willing to listen.
The world of politics and government always needs good leaders who can guide people in the right direction. Especially now, in the midst of the presidential primaries, people seek candidates who are strong-willed, independent-minded and have the ability to get our country back on its feet.
Oftentimes, candidates who run for office only want to win and change their stances on issues depending on the audience to whom they speak. They constantly let the audience make the decisions, which causes them to waver in their own opinions. What people really need is positive leaders of conviction and confidence who are grounded in their beliefs and courageous enough to address the truth. It is more likely that voters support those with whom they disagree on certain issues than those who speak based on what he thinks we want to hear.
In every area in life whether it be in school, the work place or government, there will always be a need for leaders to make the right decisions and move us all forward.
