“Footloose,” rated PG-13, was directed by Craig Brewer, starring Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough and Dennis Quaid. Released on Oct. 14, “Footloose” is a remake of the 1984 hit “Footloose,” directed by Herbert Ross.
Ren MacCormack (Wormald) moves from Boston to the small town of Bomont after his mother’s death. Upon his arrival in Bomont, Ren learns about a tragic accident that occurred a few years prior, involving the Reverend Shaw Moore’s (Quaid) son. After the accident, Reverend Moore and the rest of the town councilmen outlawed public dancing and loud music in Bomont.
MacCormack goes up against the council members’ decisions, gaining the support of the rest of the town high school’s Senior Class and Ariel Moore (Hough), the daughter of Reverend Moore.
MacCormack may not have gotten enough votes to challenge public dancing and loud music, but he does get the girl in the end, a typical happy ending.
The movie ends with the senior prom and the theme song “Footloose.”
“Footloose” is recommended for teens who enjoy watching musicals, dancing, drama and comedy.
This movie may not have brought together a cast of well known actors, but it features professional dancers whose great moves make “Footloose” an entertaining and fun movie to watch.
