n October the varsity bowling, cross country, riflery and volleyball teams all competed in state tournaments.
Freshman Caitlin Cunningham and seniors Christyn Wong and Alexis Peterson went to Hilo for bowling where Peterson ended in 16th place.
The riflery team placed third in this year’s competition behind Waiakea and Punahou.
Varsity shooter, Michelle Uchida, said, “States didn’t go as planned. Sara Tashima’s gun and mine broke half-way through, but we still managed to come in third.”
Although they fell short, riflery shooters were still proud of what they had accomplished.
Sophomore Maile Romano and senior Alexis Damo qualified for cross country races on Maui.
Damo said, “It took a lot of time training and pushing myself. It was painful but in the end, completely worth it.”
Damo finished in 36th place with a time of 22:14:4 while Romano finished at 23:45.
The volleyball team took fourth place in Division II. The team played against Hawaii Baptist Academy for third place, fighting all the way to the end.
Sophmore Kawe McShane said, “ We accomplished our goal of getting to states, but unfortunately we couldn’t pull it off.”
