This year’s theme for Freshman Initiation was “Changing Channels” as the Junior Class welcomed the freshmen into the high school.
Throughout the program, freshman performers kept the audience pumped and entertained with vigorous dances and catchy cheers. The program was featured selections from “Glee,” “Victorious,” “Pretty Little Liars,” “Jersey Shore,'” ” SpongeBob” “Americas Best Dance Crew,” “America’s Got Talent,” “Are You Smarter Than A5th Grader” and commercials including “Sundrop” and “Kia Sol”.
Sophomore Ashley Barley said, “Throughout the performance I was laughing and enjoying the freshmen’s well choreographed performances. They did a great job this year.”
The dedication of the freshmen and their big sisters showed through their performances. They spent numerous hours practicing and rehearsing during recess, at lunch and after school five days a week.
Freshman Brigid Nunan said, “The practices were time-consuming, but I enjoyed spending time with my big sister and my peers. This experience brought my whole freshman division together. I’m glad that Sacred Hearts allows us to have this experience of initiation.”
Junior Adviser, Wendi Vincent, and Freshman Adviser, Leilani Asuncion-Tagupa, played important roles in the success of the program. Vincent and Asuncion-Tagupa coordinated and supervised the meetings and practices.
