Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, made an enormous impact on the world. Jobs, who was only 56 years old, lost the battle to pancreatic cancer. Although his health was visibly failing, the world was still shocked by his death.
Jobs was a creative genius. He dropped out of college with an idea which came to fruition in his parents’ garage, which was the beginning of the portable computer.
Students may not yet recognize the role Jobs played in their daily lives although many have laptops, iPods and iPhones, products that Jobs envisioned.
Jobs’ company has impacted the world since the 1970s. He and Steve Wozniack reinvented the computer by creating a personal, portable computer that people could use at home. Today almost everyone has a portable computer and takes it for granted. Many schools, including the Academy, require students to have laptops. Before the Macintosh, the idea of a portable computer had never been thought of.
Jobs’ other inventions include the iPod, with multiple variations including the iPod Nano and the iPod Touch, the iPhone, with its newest version and the iPad. Apple also has “Apple TV” for television.
Jobs changed technology so much in the past 30 years. His passion created the Apple products of today.
“You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever,” he said. “This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
Jobs was an inspiration to all. He changed the world.
Steve Jobs changed the way we communicate, gather information and spend recreational time. Because of his inventions, he made our lives much easier and more efficient.
