Every January, Sacred Hearts Academy welcomes graduates back to campus for its annual Alumnae Forum, where former students share their post-graduation experiences with current students.
During the forum, alumnae speak with different grade levels about college life, career paths and the transition into adulthood. The event aims to help students prepare for life after high school by offering real-world advice and inspiration.
The forum is coordinated by counselor Cleo Eubanks, who has organized the event for nearly two decades. According to Eubanks, planning begins soon after graduation when the school collects personal email addresses from departing seniors.
The process continues in November, when the school reaches out to alumnae and invites them to return to campus as forum speakers.
As a result, graduates from different class years return each January to share their perspectives with current students.
Among this year’s speakers was Abigail Kanoelani Walker (’23), who reflected on her college experiences and her time at the Academy. During the forum, she shared what she has learned since graduating and what she wishes she had done differently while in high school.
“The main thing I would’ve liked to have told them is to never say no to new opportunities,” Walker said. “Attend school events, talk to new people and seek out resources and join new clubs. That is where the joy of college comes from.”
