Sixth graders showcase Egyptian artifacts
November 10, 2014
Sixth graders ended their unit in social studies on ancient Egypt with a museum walk, showcasing homemade Egyptian artifacts.
From dioramas of the Great Pyramids of Giza to replicas of ancient artifacts, students showcased their creativity and new knowledge of ancient Egypt to guests who attended.
Students gained extensive information on ancient Egypt through researching Egypt and creating the projects.
Fiona Sun said, “I learned that the way Egyptians used make-up is very different than how we use it now. I had fun creating my own artifact, but it was difficult to measure all of the angles of the pyramid.”
Classmate Kelee Aizawa-Smith said, “The Egyptian artifact project helped me learn more about Egyptian culture. Making the 3D project instead of just studying made it more fun to learn about how they lived.”
Social studies teacher Chelsea Zaniboni was proud of her students’ hard work.
“I was very impressed with their results. It was evident that they did
their research, worked hard and were proud of their artifacts,” said Zaniboni.
The museum walk presentations were on view for all Academy classes and parents.
