The Academy’s varsity volleyball team started the season undefeated–after winning  overall championship at the McKinley Tiger Tournament last week.

According to outside hitter senior Shayla-Ann Santos, the team’s strategy was to dominate the game from the very beginning. “(We) never take our foot off the gas and always push points,” she said, all the while setting goals for themselves.

The team played against Kaiser Varsity, Aiea Varsity, McKinley Varsity White, Moanalua Varsity, Iolani JV Black Red, Farrington Varsity, Waianae and Punahou Varsity DII.

The Lancers’ best score was 25-2, while their more challenging game set was a close 24-26.

“As long as our team stays focused on their goals, I am confident we will have a good season,” Santos said.
