Kirk finishes as state champion
Senior Phoebe Kirk won the 1500m and 800m at the State Track & Field Championships.
Athletic Director Ryan Hogue said, “We are proud of Phoebe Kirk for claiming her second 800m title and first 1500m title. Her perseverance and determination were shown in the race as she finished even if she wasn’t at the top speed at first.”
Kirk also excels in the classroom, boasting a 3.90 GPA, which earned her the right to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis this fall.
Kirk said, “I was hoping for the best when I got onto the track. I pushed myself to the end and I am grateful for having the opportunity to compete in the championships and then win. My passion for running has made me the person I am today.”
