‘Cheer Up’ reveals pressures of high school

“Cheer Up” follows a dance group of sophomores as they go through life at a competitive high school.

Kang Yeon Doo (Jung Eun Ji) is the leader of the dance group Real King which is competing against The White Tigers, a team of smart, wealthy students.

Because The White Tigers’ claim to be disturbed by Real King, the latter is shut down by the school.

To reinstate the club, Real King is given the option to participate in a cheerleading competition with The White Tigers. The school gives them this chance because Kwon Soon Ah (Chae Soo Bin) of The White Tigers wants to put this on her resume so that she can get into a top college.

After the leader of The White Tigers, Kim Yeol (Lee Won Geun) convinces Yeon Doo to participate, she reluctantly gives in.

While working together for the cheer competition, Real King and The White Tigers learn to balance school with the pressure of doing well. As Real King forms new friendships with The White Tigers, the goal of getting the club back and winning proves possible.

This drama is recommended for teens because it depicts the pressure of balancing school work and extracurricular activities for high schoolers while demonstrating the competitiveness and drama that occur so readily in high school.
