Relationships and trust are put on the line in Lifetime Movie Network’s 2013 original film, “Love You to Death.” The movie focuses on 16-year-old Sylvia Potter (Lindsey Shaw),  a teenager who finds herself stuck in a maze of uncertainty after falling in love with Lucas Green(Jamie Johnston), the prime suspect in a disappearance case.

For the past three months, the search for missing teen Melissa Kennedy has shaken up Sylvia’s hometown of Ridgedale. Despite the tension around her, Sylvia, a black-and-white cinema enthusiast and successful student at Hampton Prep, yearns for love. Her best friend Harry (Jean-Luc Bilodeau), has romantic feelings for her, but Sylvia is unable to return his affections.

Sylvia’s secure life is flipped upside down when she meets Lucas, a reputed delinquent. Disregarding her friends’ warnings about Lucas, Sylvia is attracted by his heavy gaze and charismatic attitude. Sylvia soon finds Lucas returning her interest. This sparks a dangerous, passionate relationship between the two but causes Sylvia’s friends to ostracize her.

For a while, Sylvia and Lucas’ relationship consists of movie dates and learning more about each other. But, just as her fairy tale reaches its peak, Sylvia’s trust and perception of Lucas is shaken when she finds out that he is the boyfriend of Melissa, the girl who disappeared months before, and has been declared a prime suspect in the case.

Lucas attempts to reason with Sylvia and explain the situation to her, trying to save their relationship. As the police bear down on Lucas, he begins to act aggressively toward those who try to hurt Sylvia, causing Sylvia to become repulsed by his presence. Still, she does not believe that Lucas is the culprit.

“Love You To Death” is a suspenseful,  romantic movie to watch with friends. The chemistry between Sylvia and Lucas’ characters will have teens sigh with giddiness. The shocking reveal at the end will blindside viewers. Although the production is not as stellar as a Hollywood film, “Love You To Death” is worth watching if one is in the mood for good teen drama.

“Love You To Death” is recommended for teens 14 and up due to violence and language. It can be viewed via the Lifetime Movie Club app or on the LMN channel when it is airing.
