Positive Coaching Alliance(PCA) is a national non-profit developing “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide youth and high school athletes with a positive, character-building sports experience.

Academy senior Phoebe Kirk is a finalist for the Positive Coaching Alliance Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship.

The scholarship is given to high school student-athletes who display excellence in Personal Mastery: Making oneself better;  Leadership: Making one’s teammates better; and Honoring the Game: Making the game better. Athletic director, Ryan Hogue, encouraged Kirk to apply for this scholarship opportunity.

Kirk is one of nine finalists inHawaii eligible to receive a $2,000 college scholarship.

Last year as a junior, Kirk  finished 15th overall at the state cross country championships in the fall and took the State Championship in the 800-meter in the spring.

On receiving the news about the scholarship, Kirk said, “I was surprised when I found out that I was a finalist. I was in the car when my mom told me and it instantly made my day. I honestly did not think that I would be a finalist with all of the amazing athletes in the state. I was really excited. I just hope that things work out for the best.”
