The Sacred Hearts Academy Dance Department concluded its season with its spring dance performance, excerpts from “Coppélia.”

Because the ballet relies strongly on a male lead, it was altered to fit an all-female cast. The rendition revolves around a life-sized doll named Coppélia who is brought to life by a woman named Swanilda.

Students in Grade 8 Dance, Dance Technique, Intermediate Dance and Advanced Dance were involved in the production.

Annually, seniors in the dance program are recognized at the spring ballet, their final performance on St. Louis School’s Mamiya Theatre stage.

This year seniors recognized were Jillian Anderson, Olivia Brittin, Megan Garcia, Minami Inafuku, Madison Kwok, Sarah Naai, Daisy Panganiban, Angelique Racpan, Alexandrea Somera and Nicole Yamada.

The sole performance of “Coppélia” occurred on Apr. 11.
