Academy students heard the Women Empowerment Club’s message that women must pursue higher education. Chaminade University sponsored the presentation attended by several economics students.

Sophomores Angelina Caballero, Jennifer Ung and Neicy-May Fujiwara and junior Jaye Stothers, attended the event.

One topic discussed was the fact that women in many places often do not have access to an adequate education.

“Women are given boundaries and limits, more than men. Freedom is almost nonexistent in Pakistan and other Arab or Muslim countries,” said Stothers.

Members of the Women Empowerment Club also suggested to students that they apply for college,  jobs, schools or scholarships and not be afraid that they are not good enough.

A parent who attended the presentation said, “We [women] should take advantage of our education because women in other countries are struggling daily while students in the United States are being spoiled with education.”

Stothers said, “We tend to take this powerful gift of education for granted. I agree with this wise mother’s advice because I observe daily a few of my classmates not taking the full advantage of their precious education.”
