Freshman LeGrand Pound triumphed at the state swimming championships on Feb. 20-21 winning gold in two events.
Pound placed first in the 200 and 100-yard freestyle events, garnering gold, the only freshman to do so at the meet.
Pound swam in the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays with freshman teammates Kaianalii Rosa-Grace and Julia Oehlers, and older sister Hallie Pound.
Pound is no stranger to the water. A seasoned veteran, Pound has been swimming for five years and has been an active member of the PAC-5 swim team since junior high.
“I’ve been swimming since I was seven but not consistently. I started to get seriously interested in swimming after watching the Beijing Olympics,” said Pound.
