Lancer air riflery team aims high at ILH precision championship

The Lancer varsity precision air riflery team triumphed as team champs in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) championships on Feb. 14.
The Academy team tied with Punahou but then ultimately won the title thanks to a higher season average.
In the first match of the competition, Academy shooters collectively scored 2,157 points, beating Punahou which had a score of 2,045. The second match resulted in 2,184 points, a winning score, against St. Francis with 1,772 points.
Juniors Angelique Mara and Jessica Wehrman scored the highest in each of the rounds the Lancer team participated in. They rose to the top with Mara scoring 378 in the first match and Wehrman 372 in the second match, qualifying Mara to compete at the ILH individual varsity precision championship that happened on Feb. 21.
