For Catholic Schools’ Week, the Academy’s lower school library celebrated its annual “Big Book Swap” with students in grades JK to 6 donating their gently used books for the event.

Librarian Laurel Oshiro explained how the book swap works.

Oshiro said, “For every book that students donate, they can take home an equal number of books when they visit the library with their class for the Big Book Swap.”

All donated books were sorted prior to the swap so that students had access to books appropriate for their age level. The swap began on Jan. 27 and concluded on Jan. 29.

“The event was established to promote sustainability, literacy and a love for books,” Oshiro said.
