S Club members volunteer at Color Run
November 13, 2014
Twelve members of the Soroptimist club provided manpower for the Color Run, also known as “The Happiest 5k on the Planet,” a five-kilometer race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality.
Thousands of participants, or color runners, were doused from head to toe in different colors of corn starch at each kilometer. Club members helped at a water station and checked in runners.
Sophomore Elane Namoca said, “I volunteered at the check-in station and was able to hand out packets with the runners’ t-shirts and information. It was definitely a fun experience since I was able to witness their excitement and exhilaration to run and get thrown with a variety of colors.”
At the end of the event, club members were sprayed with color dye when packets were passed out. The main stage area had blasts of color sprayed on everyone, including runners and volunteers.
Part of the proceeds from the Color Run go to local nonprofits.
