Sacred Hearts Academy will sponsor its 19th Annual Scholarship Fund Gala at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel on Oct. 17.

The gala is the major fundraiser for student financial aid.

Director of Development, Andrea Hamilton, said, “We raise about $125,000 at the gala annually. A large portion of this money comes from private donors and gifts from individuals.”

At the gala, the Academy Board of Directors honors noteworthy alumnae who have made a positive impact on their communities, distinguished themselves in a variety of careers and are a source of inspiration for today’s Academy students.

The honorees for the 2014 Scholarship Gala are Geri-Ann Baptista ‘86, Paula Hee Ng ‘78, Faith Rivera ‘89, Alethea Au Seto ‘80, Margaret Mary Stafford ‘52 and Mona Chang Vierra, Ed.D. ‘62.

Academy students play important supporting roles in the gala. Student dancers, choir and band members will perform several numbers. Student hostesses assist in selling raffle tickets and helping guests at the auction which is done via iPads.

The six honored alumnae will be interviewed by current students with the videos shown at the gala.

More than 100 students are involved in entertaining and assisting guests and introducing the honorees.

Guests will also be entertained by alumna and Daytime Emmy Award Winner Rivera.
