Maya Waldrep has a long history in theater, and the budding actress doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon.

Waldrep has appeared in many Academy productions, including“Annie,” “Mulan Jr.,” “Little Mermaid Jr.,” “Alice in Wonderland Jr.,” “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and “Seussical Jr.” She has also performed in Saint Louis School productions “Willy Wonka” and “In the Heights.”

Waldrep had the lead role in the recent Mamiya Theatre production of “Legally Blonde.”

The experienced actress first became involved in theater in the fifth grade.

“One of my best friends convinced me to take her hip hop dance class. I was extremely hesitant and reluctant to the idea of people watching me flail my arms and legs to music. That one class was the beginning of my new life-long passion,” said Waldrep.

In her spare time, Waldrep practices ballet and photography.

“I have a growing passion and find myself often quite depressed without dance,” said Waldrep.

Waldrep hopes to minor in ballet [in college] and continue her involvement in theater.

“It’s become my greatest inspiration and biggest obsession,” said Waldrep.
