The CyberLancers Gold team of seniors Leeyannah Santos, Angelyn Tabalba, Kristen Kate Tumacder and Xuyan Zhang completed the CyberPatriot Regional Round on Jan. 17.

This round featured three “virtual images,”  a Cisco Networking quiz and a Packet Tracer. The virtual images were Ubuntu 12, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 8.1.

Santos said, “The competition was a great way to test the knowledge that I acquired throughout my time in the class [Digital Engineering Honors]. Although the content was difficult to understand, it was important to know the structure and format of a common network.”

Though the team had a few difficulties with the Packet Tracer portion of the round, it was successful in reaching the Regional Round.

Tabalba said, “CyberPatriot isn’t just a regular club. The class and competitions made me realize that our world is advancing in technology and the concepts will definitely be useful in the future in securing my own computers and cyber devices.”

The team earned 49 points on the Ubuntu image, 43 points on the Windows Server 2008 and 67 points on the Windows 8.1 image. The team earned 26.4 points for Cisco Networking Quiz and Packet Tracer.

This was the last round for the CyberLancers who did not qualify for the national competition.
