The lower school VEX IQ robotics team participated in a regional tournament at Kalani High School, winning the Project Award.

The Academy team competed against 20 teams but did not make it to the state competition.

The team, however, earned the Project Award, one of five awards presented at the competition on Nov. 11.

Members of the team were recognized at morning flag raising. Students in the First Lego League (FLL) and who earned the VEX IQ award were also acknowledged.

Fourth graders Carlee Marcello, Ashley Tom, Ariana Dowda-Gates, Hyatt Yoshioka, Kylee Kamauoha Phillips, Nanami Mehring, Prudence Eddy, Jerica Fang, Kelly Thieu and Catherine Loiselle were a part of the FLL team.

Six graders Kelly Thieu and Shari Ho were the winners of VEX IQ.
