The Sacred Hearts Academy Room Parent (SHARP) board will not be holding the annual Fright Night celebration this year.

Head of the SHARP board, Lois Miyashiro-Tong, said, “This year Fright Night was not able to be put on due to not having a strong leadership role to head up the Haunted House committee. We did not have someone with the expertise, knowledge and the valuable time who would be able to volunteer for this position.”

One of the main attractions of Fright Night was the Haunted House, which required a great deal of preparation in previous years.

“The preparations start early September and run to the day of the Fright Night. It is not just weekends, but there are many long week nights that volunteers and the committee put into constructing and building the Haunted House. What was a little sad for me last year was the reality that it took months to put together for only about five hours of enjoyment,” said Miyashiro-Tong.

Students were looking forward to the annual Halloween celebration.

Sophomore Bonnie Chapman said, “I’m really sad that we aren’t having Fright Night this year. I remember coming to Fright Night every year since I started coming to this school and it was my favorite thing.”
