Sixty-one sixth graders attended their first class retreat organized by the Living in Faith Experience (LIFE) team on Sept. 19.

Friendship was the theme of the retreat where students had a series of activities to unite them and deepen their faith.

“The first session included different stations that focused on qualities that are looked for in friendships,” said senior Angelique Racpan.

Leaders had three sessions focused on “What is a friend?”, “What type of friend are you?” and “Building friendships.” Through the activities, students had time to improve their communication skills and develop trust among classmates.

Students went to the St. Anthony Retreat Center in Kalihi for the day and returned to school in the afternoon.

“They were able to reflect if they are good friends and if they have qualities that are important in a friendship. It helped them realize if they lacked certain qualities, they should develop them more within themselves so that they can become a better friend to others,” said Racpan.
