Entrepreneur Emmy Augustin spoke to senior theology classes about what she has learned in life. Augustin covered a range of topics from building self-esteem to managing teen relationships.

As part of the Lifestyles curriculum, students evaluate the significance of deciding on a career and how to ascertain their choices.

Theology teacher and Senior Class adviser, Leilani Asuncion-Tagupa, said, “I can say only so much and the students will get tired of me because I say the same stuff, but if you bring in a different person from a different perspective, it’s always better because then they get a different viewpoint. I’m not the only viewpoint that’s out there.”

Seniors seem to have heard Augustin’s message.

“I learned that if you have a belief, you should stand by it and that if you believe in something, you can achieve it if you put the work into it,” said senior Leeyannah Santos.

Augustin is an ‘03 alumna and holds a Bachelor’s  Degree in Family Resources and a Master’s in Child Development. She is currently a Health and Wellness Coach for Clark Hatch Fitness Center Honolulu and is working towards publishing her first book in a few months.

“My main message is to be strong women of God in uplifting others,” said Augustin who is pursuing a career as a motivational speaker.

“I think it’s very insightful. We’re all scared, we don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, so having a guest speaker who has experiences to talk to us about what she’s accomplished and how she’s done it gives us hope and determination of what we’re capable of doing,” said Santos.
